Databases are collections of resources grouped by information type or subject area. For example, the library subscribes to Standards Online, which is a database of current Standards, including a full catalogue of Australian Standards. Other databases include journal articles, maps, ebooks, statistics, news articles and videos. Here are a few key databases that may be useful to get started in information technology.
- ACM Digital Library - Association for Computing Machinery books, articles and conference proceedings.Not found in Library search. Best for Computing, IT Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
- IEEE Xplore - IEEE books, publications and standards. Best for Computing, IT and Electrical Engineering.
- ScienceDirect - Includes scholarly articles in fields such as engineering, mathematics and computing. Best for Materials Science, Computing and IT.
- SpringerLink - Includes books and journal articles on engineering and technology. Best for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
- Standards Online - Comprehensive database of Australian Standards. Also includes selected standards from other sources, such as ISO. Best for Materials science, Engineering and Construction.
- Wiley Online - Articles, books and encyclopedias on Includes subject specific encyclopedias on Water, Composites and Polymer Science, ICT and Data mining. Best for IT and Materials Science.
