Here are a few key databases that may be useful to get started in your postgraduate research (USQ Log in required).

  • SAGE research methods is a database that will be very useful if you are conducting honours or postgraduate research. This database provides guides and handbooks on research design and methodology, statistics, data and writing. It also includes a project planner that offers a basic overview of the research stages, with links for further reading.
  • Standards Online is one of the Standards databases offered at USQ. This database contains all current Australian Standards (AS) and some international content. If you cannot find the full text of the standard you require, contact the library for assistance.
  • Engineering Village is a core international database used to identify journal articles and conference papers in all engineering disciplines and spatial sciences. This database provides comprehensive access to abstracts and citation details for articles. It does not offer comprehensive access to the full text of these articles. However, it does offer a more comprehensive overview of the literature that exists on your topic. This is necessary when conducting a literature review. Other abstracting and indexing databases that may be useful include Scopus and Web of Science. Once you have identified an appropriate article you can find or request the full text version.
